This project will expose you to the rich history and wonderful culture of the Korean peninsula, while living missionally.
Ministry details
During this phase of the OKAY Project you can expect to spend time each week learning about: • Korean culture and language • the history of missions in Korea • the Korean War (and the division on the peninsula) • and missions training. Participants will also: • learn about and practice prayer for unification (including participating in prayer walks and visits to the DMZ) • have opportunities to fellowship with Koreans and friends from the North. • explore Seoul on City Hunting days (days built into the schedule to explore historical and tourist destinations) • help plan and participate in outreach events for friends from the North in (South) Korea. • and join in the Asian Highway vision trip. ** Certain activities are subject to change depending on security and the number of participants.
Purpose
The One Korea (OK) Project purposes to help you gain a clear and informed understanding of: the history of missions throughout the Korean peninsula; current mission efforts in the South and to the North; all while helping you discern meaningful opportunities for future ministry involvement.
Participant profile
You will need to: • Have a relationship with Jesus Christ as your personal Savior. • Have a love for Jesus and a desire to share your faith. • Have a joyful heart to work together in cross cultural teams. Be flexible and have a willingness to work as a team. • Have at least conversational English or Korean language ability. • Have an open mind to people of other faith and cultures. • Have a good physical and spiritual health. • Have cultural sensitivity. ** Anyone under 18 must be accompanied by a parent.
